From Burj Hamoud to Aramoun: A Story of Resilience
Founded in 1958 as Modern Education in Burj Hamoud, Universal School has survived what broke other institutions. When our building was destroyed in 1979, we relocated and rebuilt. When we moved to Aramoun in 1980 as Green Hill School, we thrived through active conflict.
But our story of resilience extends even further. During the 1980s, while war raged in Lebanon, Universal School took an extraordinary step—we expanded internationally, establishing Green Hill International School branches in Cyprus (Limassol) and Greece (Glifada). These branches served the Lebanese community who fled the civil war, ensuring that even in exile, their children received quality education rooted in Lebanese values.
This wasn't just institutional survival—it was a commitment to serve our community wherever displacement took them. Today, Universal School stands as proof that resilience isn't just taught—it's embodied in every hallway, every classroom, every graduate. From Burj Hamoud to Aramoun, from Limassol to Glifada and back, we've demonstrated that our commitment to education transcends borders and buildings.
